Shafali was brought into the squad as a substitute for Pratika Rawal, who suffered a right-foot injury during a match against Bangladesh. She played a significant role in both the semi-final and final, contributing to India's first World Cup win.

After the victory, she recalled, "Both the Prime Minister and the President invited us for a meeting. The Prime Minister spent considerable time with us, and I truly valued his attention...
